How can you push yourself with motivation

Motivation is needed by the people to perform their actions with willingness to reach their goals. Motivation keeps a person moving forward in life. There are two main types of motivation; intrinsic (internal or inherent) motivation and extrinsic (external) motivation.

Motivation is needed to form a new habit.

You don't need much motivation once you are fully absorbed into a behaviour. Nearly all of the resistance in a task is at the beginning. Once you start, progress occurs at a good pace. In other words, finishing a task is easier than it was to start it in the first place. But sometimes pushing yourself towards the finish line is like dragging yourself. It generally happens when you are not passionate enough to do what you have to do.

Thus, one of the keys to getting motivated is to make it easy to start.

Setting a schedule for yourself seems simple, but it puts your decision-making and your will to put it on autopilot by giving your goals a time and a place to live.

We need to follow the 3 R’s rule for changing a habit.

  1. Reminder
  2. Routine
  3. Reward

The reminder for your focus can be put up in the form of hand written chits in many places of your room and the work area, you must get motivation on daily basis in the form of a mentor or inspirational quotes, this routine must be followed at least continuously for 40 days and it then becomes your habit and you are rewarded with good results. Let’s try it for our cause.

In many times the life shows us an obstacle that might be an opportunity for us but it’s absolutely up to us how we perceive it. Let’s look into a story of a clever king who wanted to check out his people’s responsiveness in the social causes.

The king was once passing through the main highway of his kingdom and he suddenly saw a boulder lying on the middle of the path, he asked his men not to clear it and decided to wait behind the bushes for four hours and observe the reactions of the passengers.

Many men and traders passed by the path, few had difficulty in managing to take away their goods but still moved on in a hurry discussing about the mismanagement of the king and their men. The king was very disappointed see all this and wondered that there was no goodness in the heart of their people. He was about to move towards his fort suddenly he saw a peasant carried  a heavy load of vegetables on his head and was crossing the path. To his surprise, he noticed that the peasant kept his heavy load on the side beneath a tree and started pushing the boulder; he tried a lot but it didn’t move even an inch. The boulder was quite heavy. The peasant moved towards his pile and took out a water bottle and had some water, prayed to the lord and tried to move the boulder again, harder than the previous effort.

He finally pushed it away from the path and went to pick up his pile. As he was about turn back he heard someone approaching him and it was the king with his men; he appreciated the peasant and rewarded him with a bag of gold coins. He told him that he turned the obstacle into and opportunity and was happy for him.

Do good and good will return to you; don’t expect it, it will come to you automatically in the desired time.
