THE ORAL HISTORY OF GRANDMOTHERS
February 3, 2019

When I was growing

the people around me

praised a lot about my

intelligence and maturity;

I really enjoyed these appreciations,

Hence, the oral history of grandmothers became my reality.

Whevever I faced any problem

or fear,

I thought like a mature person and dealt

with it ripefully;

It was like a little fruit changing its

color on maturity;

Hence, the oral history of grandmothers became my reality.

When the time of social gatherings beckoned,

I became more responsible,

I had great hospitality skills

and almost every lady around me

was just impressed by my personality;

everyone told my mother that

your daughter is awesomely smart and homely;

I was an example among the girls of my age;

Hence, the oral history of grandmothers became my reality.

When I got married, I felt a burden of this old belief as

as the people around me again believed the same and so the set of

standards and expectations was imposed.

I began to lose my freedom and innocence due to the tag of my ripeness;

Anyhow, I tackled everything well  using this deepened mature mind;

Hence, the oral history of grandmothers became my reality.

I wanted to come out of this ripe state because

I faced problems due to this, I believed others opinions

as my reality so, I was sick of it;

I wished to feel  free and enjoy with no set of expectations from anyone;

Hence, the oral history of grandmothers became my reality

and I wished I dropped it.

To come out of this reality was quite difficult as

I faced a phase of depressed emotions to

unlearn whatever I believed and come out of this feminine trap;

Hence, the oral history of grandmothers became my reality and I dropped it.

THANK GOD

MUCH LOVE AND POWER TO YOU

DEEKSHA ARORA
